Our second flexible option, FlexPLA, offers window tinting professionals a food-safe filament that is equally effective at cleaning and extracting as nylon. While it requires more frequent sanding, it sands very easily with 1500-2000 grit sandpaper, ensuring a smooth finish. FlexPLA has less bend than nylon but still comfortably hugs the curves of windows, making it ideal for precise application and cleaning. Like any window film or PPF tool, it can take damage over time. The nylon option of this tool will require less sanding than the FlexPLA. The Nylon option is also very high in both heat and chemical resistance, whereas the FlexPLA is a food safe material.(Zelda, our shop puppy gets our old ones!)
In either case, they both sand very well if edge damage occurs, we prefer to use 1500-2000 grit sandpaper, and sand it wet.
Place paper on a hard and flat surface, spray it with your slip or cleaning solution, we prefer water/iso but both work great!
Glide tool edge over sandpaper until smooth again!
Otherwise we have tested various dry methods like micro fine sanding sponges and even glass polishing pads, and those work extremely well, too.
